Molly Parker is excellent as Agnes, the wild, alcoholic daughter who returns to her mother’s deathbed in Nova Scotia and reunites with her two very different sisters, while facing the terrible secrets of her past. This film was a success in the film festival circuit when released and that’s largely due not only to the charismatic, fascinating Parker but the rest of the supporting cast that manages to breathe humor and life into what may otherwise have turned into a claustrophobically melancholy film on family, home and death.
